In my paid work time, I am a Ramón y Cajal Fellow at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and I hold an Associate Professor II position at the Centre for the Study of the Sciences and the Humanities (SVT), University of Bergen. My research focuses on the science-policy interface, and I study how science is mobilised in policy processes through the lenses of complexity theory, post-normal science and uncertainty assessment. I am particularly interested in the role of metrics and of innovation in the science-policy interface.
I have previously worked as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Centre for the Study of the Sciences and the Humanities (SVT), University of Bergen, and at the urban Modelling and Metabolism Assessment (uMAMA) lab, of the Centre for Complex Systems in Transition, Stellenbosch University. I hold a PhD from the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona, on the use of complexity theory in the assessment of science for policy, a Master of Science in Environmental Studies from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Technische Universitat Harburg-Haburg, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
I am half Italian and half Brazilian, which gets everybody confused as people expect me to be from Eastern Europe. I am very passionate about all sorts of outdoors activities, including sailing, hiking and skiing. I also love a good salsa, or forró, night. I love cooking, travelling and spending time with the important ones, and I study logosophy.
